Acting as band secretary on a 'temporary' basis to help out has meant that George has now been attending band practices for nearly 18 years, during which time he has been handling the subs, the coach bookings, making lists, etc. and the myriad of other secretarial jobs that crop up in running a large band, George came along initially with his wife, Lydia, purely as supporters to their two sons, both of whom served the band with distinction for many years, but as they moved on, George stayed and has become yet another long serving and invaluable member of the 'backstage' group which keeps the band ticking over so well.
